CHILDREN'S PRODUCT COMPLIANCE

Importing Toys?
CPSC Doesn't Play Around.

Children's products face the strictest import requirements in the US. CPSIA testing, ASTM F963, lead limits, phthalates, third-party lab certification, and now mandatory eFiling. One missing CPC and your entire shipment gets seized.

What You Need for Every Children's Product

Children's Product Certificate (CPC)

Every children's product needs a CPC backed by testing from a CPSC-accepted third-party lab. Your supplier's self-cert PDF won't cut it at the border.

ASTM F963 Testing

The mandatory toy safety standard. Covers mechanical hazards, flammability, heavy metals, small parts, and projectiles. Updated regularly — make sure your test reports reference the current version.

Lead & Phthalate Limits

CPSIA limits: 100 ppm lead in substrate, 90 ppm lead in surface coating, 0.1% phthalates (8 specific types). Third-party testing required for each.

eFiling (July 8, 2026)

Mandatory electronic filing of product safety data before goods clear customs. Children's products are the highest enforcement priority. No filing = automatic hold.

Tracking Labels

Every children's product must have a permanent, distinguishing mark linking it to the manufacturer, production date, and batch. Required by CPSIA Section 103.

Age Grading

Incorrect age grading is one of the top reasons for CPSC recalls. ClearPort checks your product descriptions against CPSC age determination guidelines.
