The Challenge

Urban Thread is a mid-size adult fashion brand with 200 SKUs spanning basics, outerwear, and accessories. They were spending $8,000 per year on third-party lab testing across their entire catalog — treating every product as if it required full CPSC testing.

Their compliance consultant had never mentioned that adult cotton basics and simple textiles often qualify for testing exemptions under CPSC's Disclaimer B provision. So Urban Thread kept paying for tests they didn't need.

On top of that, their customs broker was manually assembling PGA (Partner Government Agency) message sets for each shipment — a tedious, error-prone process that added hours to every import cycle.

The Solution

Urban Thread ran their full catalog through two ClearPort AI features:

• Disclaimer Bot — Analyzed all 200 products against CPSC exemption criteria. Flagged which products qualify for Disclaimer B (exempt from third-party testing because they're adult-use general products made from materials with no regulated chemicals). Identified that 160 out of 200 products (80%) qualified for the exemption
• Broker Export — Generated properly formatted PGA message sets for their customs broker, including all required product codes, certification references, and disclaimer declarations. What used to take hours of manual assembly now exports in seconds
